WCS Employment and Training Services programming helps high risk residents secure decent jobs and live crime-free lives through vocational training, employment skills training, job placement and job retention.

Program services are provided at the WCS Employment and Training Center, the Day Reporting Center in Waukesha, and at the Downtown MATC Campus.  Services include immediate employment attachment assistance and long-term career planning; computer literacy; sector-specific technical training; and support services to ensure long-term employment retention.

WCS provides Employment Readiness and case management services to formerly incarcerated persons with the goal of reducing criminal recidivism by securing full-time, permanent employment opportunities with sustainable wages.  Employment readiness and case management services include:

  • Computer literacy
  • Employment readiness assessments
  • Soft skills training
  • Resume/Cover Letter development
  • Interviewing preparation
  • Transportation assistance
  • Employment search and job development assistance

WCS also provides intensive and supportive Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services to adult and youth participants that meet state and federal eligibility.

As part of its Green Trades Training Program (GTTP), WCS provides six-week ‘employer first’ skills trade trainings in the sectors of construction, building maintenance, and general labor. See below.

A NEW ADDITION to our Employment and Training Services is the Green Trades Training Program (GTTP)

GTTP trains participants, most of whom are looking to enter or re-enter the workforce after incarceration, in 21st century general construction skills and shows them how to apply these skills in an actual deconstruction setting.

In addition to giving trainees hands-on construction/ deconstruction experience, CDEP addresses participants’ comprehensive employment needs through employment and educational assessments, case management/job development, job readiness training, transportation, support services and community referrals as identified.
